Ambar Calvillo
Ambar J. Calvillo

Ambar Calvillo believes that mentoring between women can be a vehicle for very large and influential change. We are always caught in a web of development that intersects the paths of those around us, and if we learn to link those intersections and narrow the space between us, we can create social change for women everywhere. Ambar is a third year Master’s student in the Educational Leadership program at the University of New Mexico, and works as a Mentoring and Leadership Graduate Assistant at the UNM Women’s Resource Center. She is a Fall Organizing for America Fellow under the Political Department, Latina Graduate and Professional Student Fellow, and a graphic designer for Mothers Against Drunk Driving, NM.

Don McIver

Frustrated with repair bills, long commutes, and never having enough time for friends, conversation, and living the way he wanted, Don McIver lept into carlessness. As a result, he's found his life to be much fuller. Perhaps, he asks, the distance between what we think we can do and what we actually do is closer than it at first appears. McIver is a poet, monologist, essayist, teacher, manager, organizer, bicyclist and Basic Human Needs award winner.
