Individual Consultations

icUNM graduate students and professional students can receive one-on-one, in-person writing and statistics consultations with a trained, graduate consultant.

To schedule an appointment, please call 505-277-1407. Walk-in visits are also available during our Evening Walk-in Hours, which is open for extended hours on Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. MST.

Writing

Students seeking assistance on writing a class paper, journal article, or thesis/dissertation will find the help they need. Our graduate consultants are trained to help students improve their writing by reviewing student work for sentence flow and argument structure.

Unfortunately, consultants are NOT trained to offer assistance on citation style manuals (APA,MLA, Chicago, etc) or grammar/copy editing. Students with those types of needs can seek options below.

Statistics

Graduate students conducting statistical design, analysis and/or interpretation may meet with a GRC consultant for assistance and feedback.  Consultants can also assist with using statistical software and/or to recommend additional resources.  Students enrolled in undergraduate statistics courses may also use CAPS Math drop-in labs.

In-person Proofreading & Copy Editing Appointments

Graduate consultants are not trained to provide assistance with copy editing, grammar, or punctuation. However, students seeking free proofreading or copy editing assistance are welcome to schedule FREE appointments at the GRC with our volunteer editors.

Students seeking editing services for their dissertations or theses should check out our list of off-campus editing services. Prices for editing manuscripts vary.

Planning for Graduate School?

The decision to pursue a degree in higher education takes careful consideration and preparation.  The Graduate Resource Center is a central information hub for prospective students to get the guidance, advice and motivation they need to pursue their degrees in a masters or professional program. Sometimes the best way to get the information you need is to talk with an experienced graduate student one-on-one.  Scheduling a half or one-hour appointment is the easiest way to do this.  Schedule appointments by calling (505) 277-1407 or in person at Mesa Vista Hall suite 1057.  Find us on a campus map...

Evening Walk-In Hours for Prospective Graduate Students

Prospective graduate and professional students are welcome to drop-in the Graduate Resource Center for assistance in applying to graduate school Wednesday evenings from 5pm to 6pm.
